July, 2014 is a time of big changes in Vedic astrology, or Jyotish. Jupiter moved into exaltation, Rahu and Ketu changed signs, and Mars has returned to Libra. Mars and Saturn in Libra reignites the tense dynamic from February and March of this year.
Fortunately, wild card Rahu is now out of the picture as it just moved out of Libra and into Virgo. However, Mars and Saturn together is similar to driving with one foot on the gas and one foot on the brakes simultaneously. Do you stop or go? How fast or slow? With Mars and Saturn in Libra, fire and ice collide. This push/ pull phenomenon will play out throughout the time that Mars is in Libra (through September 4).
Mars is the hot planet of aggression, ambition, competition, action, and conflict. Saturn is the cold planet of obstruction, challenges, delays, discipline, responsibility, and adversity. Mars represents your siblings and Saturn denotes your subordinates. The battle is waging in the harmony-loving sign of Libra. Libra is the 7th house of the natural zodiac. It signifies the personal and professional partner. Strong alliances may be formed, yet there may also be power struggles. Represented by the scales, Libras loves balance, without being weighed down.
Saturn is currently exalted, or at the peak of its strength, in Libra. That makes it an even more virulent malefic, which can wreck havoc. Saturn is also coming out of retrogression in the next few days. This can be a very intense period. More details will be on my Facebook page. Historically, Mars and Saturn together have produced global conflict, political tension, and natural disasters.
Mars and Saturn create a determination to get things done. “It’s my way or the highway” is the motto of Mars and Saturn in Libra. There is a drive to accomplish things on your time frame and only as you see fit. This can literally wear you and others out trying to meet the deadline of having it done “by yesterday”. Mars and Saturn in Libra puts a strain on your interpersonal relationships as your colleagues or friends and family be drawn into your agenda.
As Mars and Saturn represent the blood and muscle tissue, respectively, in Ayurveda, you’ll feel a greater urge to be active during this time. Spend time communing with the earth and engaging in outdoor activities. Pushing yourself relentlessly can push Pitta (Mars) and Vata (Saturn) out of balance. Planting and gardening are also ways to vent tension during at this time.
Mars and Saturn will be within one degree of each other from August 23 – 27. This creates a planetary war. This is the time when tensions will be the most heightened. I’ll be posting more about this on my Facebook page and Twitter as the time draws nearer.
On an individual level, those in a Mars or Saturn planetary cycle will be most impacted. You also want to see what house of the zodiac Libra occupies in your Vedic astrology chart. An individual astrology reading can help you determine what the impact may be.
